Chapter 15
1. Trevor gains important experiences and support in cornering an underground market as he grows into manhood after high school.
2 Questions;
a. Would have the reaction to Hitler's name been less severe if his friend had been named after Custer, Stalin, or Pol Pot?
b. How much value does Trevor place on his ability to be a "chameleon" due to his mother's insistence on being multilingual? Did this mindset assist his ability to turn a profit from minimal situations?
Chapter 16
1. Navigating the world after High School and understanding the various levels and definitions of criminal activity, while accepting the symbolism of cheese.
2 Questions;
a. Being an entertainer, does Trevor see any literal parallels between the mindset of "hustling" while in Alex and how he's become a success in navigating his entertainment career?
b. How have Trevor's experiences with law enforcement in South Africa served to influence his views on law enforcement while in the U.S.?
Chapter 17
1. Trevor gains knowledge and experiences that one can only obtain in a brush with the law, and begins to appreciate the depths of a mother's love.
2 Questions;
a. How does Trevor's personal experiences serve to inform his existing opinions on Law Enforcement practices the the U.S.A. when it comes to such practices as "stop and frisk" and mandatory minimum sentencing?
b. In being multilingual, does Trevor consider it a duty to be able to translate for someone who may not speak the prevailing language?
Chapter 18.
1. As a young professional now on his own, Trevor makes a difficult choice regarding family and then must face down a horrific event that leaves him forever changed.
2 Questions;
a. Having been exposed to repeated incidences of domestic abuse in the home, did Trevor feel as if he'd abandoned his brothers?
b. Having seen instances of such unbridled violence from Abel in the past, does Trevor feel like in part he convinced himself that Abel would not escalate to murder so he could make leaving home emotionally easier?
